O2L (Offers to Launch)

A flexible design system implemented across the entire student on-boarding journey

I have lead the development of the design system for Student Central’s O2L project. This design is a variation of the Student Central visual style, and incorporates style elements of the University brand. This vibrant design aims to evoke interest and excitement, and build recognition for commencing students as information relating to the start of their university experience.

  • I adapted the Student Central design and incorporated elements of the University brand to develop a flexible design system to use across the O2L campaign collateral.

  • The design system has been implemented the O2L across the entire campaign. I have contributed to the development of O2L campaign collateral including website graphics, EDMs, welcome presentations, videos, social media, wall planner, schedule booklet, wayfinding, and signage.

  • After joining in and observing a commencing student Welcome Session, I noticed a gap and opportunity in the experience. As students were sitting in the hall waiting for the presentation to start, there was nothing on screen to indicate what students were waiting for, and no ambient sound or movement that added to an engaging or exciting atmosphere. Instead, the mood was quiet and awkward. I found this as an opportunity to create a series of short ads to display on screen, improve retention of the day’s top level messages, to make some noise and improve the general mood.

I coordinated the project, scripted and animated each ad of top-level information, and created a looping reel that was displayed on screen for 30 minutes prior to the presentation start time. The project received very positive feedback and we have continued this with every Welcome Session since.
